Dear Fellow Members,

It is with great pleasure and honour that I deliver this message here as the Chairman of Penang Branch. I would like to express my gratitude to my executive committee members, and in particular, my esteemed predecessor, Engineer Bernard Lim, for entrusting me with this new role.

I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to all those who have supported, contributed, and sacrificed their time to ensure the success and growth of the branch.
As we move forward, we must build on past successes and continue to deliver on our commitments.

We are thrilled to announce more upcoming events, and we invite all members to join in. We hope to see you more often and look forward to your continuous support. IEM is not just a platform for sharing, continuing education and collecting CPD points, but also for its members to connect and have fun together. We have many exciting activities and programs planned in collaboration with the other stakeholder. With your support, we can achieve a better outcome.
We have formed various sub-committees and working groups. I welcome members of all levels and backgrounds to come forward because I believe that each one of you has something valuables to offer, and we do not want to miss out on any good and brilliant ideas. I urge more new members, to volunteer and to serve together. I am confident that by letting go of our differences and starting to work closely together, we can overcome any challenges and achieve the goals.

With new ideas and suggestions, we will improve the performance and running of the organization. We are committed to working with you to find better solutions and to ensure that we meet the needs of our members and this society. Engineering, like life itself, is also very diverse. Therefore, it is crucial for us to exchange innovative ideas and knowledge, obtain new technical skills from our peers, and seek help from other experts.

Despite our distinct roles and fields of expertise, we must work together seamlessly towards shared objectives to uplift the standard and quality of both the industry and the nation. By doing so, we can contribute to the growth and prosperity of our society.

We recognize that close collaboration amongst fellow engineers, interactions with other professional bodies, authorities, and other industries are crucial in shaping the nation and country nowadays. Joint efforts and leveraging the strength and power with other professional organizations are important to sustainable development. Therefore, we engineers need to be creative, innovative, stay competitive, and having generating skills in this dynamic world we live in.

I would like to advocate the 55th IEM annual dinner's theme, “Engineers are the CAPSTONES – Things Breakdown without Us.” and 56th theme "Generative Talents for Sustainability".

IEM Penang Branch has always played a crucial role in serving its members, government, and society. Let us continue to strive for excellence and stay relevant at all times by actively engaging with other stakeholders.

I wish to end my message with a quote from Xi Jinping
"我们要创新思维方式,发展新观念,抢抓科技革命和产业变革带来的机遇。" - 习近平
“We need to innovate in our thinking, develop a new vision, and seize the opportunities presented by the new scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation." - Xi Jinping.

I wish you all the best and happiness in life.

Thank you.
